Floyd Douglas Poll (Doug), age 66, papa Doug, lost his hard-fought battle against cancer in Scottsdale on May 14, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd E. Poll, and his sister, Dianna Van Noord.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lisa Poll; his stepchildren, Jeremy Hobbs and Jessica Hobbs; his seven grandchildren, especially his pumpkin-butt, Rozilyn Hobbs; his mother, Patricia L. Poll; his sister, Denise (Reid) Endly and his very large Irish family.
Doug began his long, proud career in furniture at Art Van Furniture stores in Michigan, where I was lucky enough to have met him. When some good friends from there started Sleep Doctor Mattress Stores, he climbed aboard the entrepreneur train and worked there before my dad became very ill and we moved here to Fountain Hills.
Once here Doug took a position with Bedmart AZ. Shortly after its sale he moved to Brooklyn Bedding, his home away from home. He always worked hard to support the local community and will be remembered as a hard-working, loving man who was there when you need him…even if it meant you had to take the sarcasm.
An Irish celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fountain Hills American Legion Post #58 on Parkview Avenue. Your admission is a good story or memory of Doug. We will be serving great Irish food and soft drinks and there will be a cash bar available.
Doug wished to have his body donated to Science Care of Arizona for cancer research.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity. Don’t forget to pay it forward.
