Flag Day

In “Memorial” letter of May 29, 2013 my intention was “Manes men all!” with an “a,” not “Menes men all!”

Computer spell checkers do not know the meaning yet, that is until A.I.

Flag Day

Posted

In “Memorial” letter of May 29, 2013 my intention was “Manes men all!” with an “a,” not “Menes men all!”

Computer spell checkers do not know the meaning yet, that is until A.I.

“Manes,” venerated spirits of departed heroes, is spiritual, whereas “Menes” was the physical uniting of Ancient Egypt.

Also, “at movements quiet is heard, while nations are grumbling,” is a subtle reference to the lion hearts of the next sentence, those as yet to find their voices. A lion’s roar is certainly not timorous. With 800 veterans passing each day our nation is getting low on lion hearts, and so connects to the idea “…not enough lion hearts,” simply my concern of replenishment.

Additionally, without doubt: Sen. Inoue, deceased, President Bush, the elder, Sen. Dole and Sen. McCain, warriors first, and many others like themselves are not the politicians of “no matter the politicians.”

Those “no matter the politicians” shall remain nameless, because we know who they are: adulterers, liars, generally fraudulent types, self-seekers mouthing just and noble words yet dissimulating.

The words: “rest… trumpets shall continue to sound…” are the trumpets playing “Taps,” for the blood price will be borne by ours, “The land of the free, because of the brave.”

Flag Day every June 14, a reminder of our honored symbol…long may she wave.
