Great fireworks! Thanks to the organizers and sponsors of a most impressive fireworks display on a day we all celebrate, the Fourth of July, Independence Day. I hope it becomes a Fountain Hills tradition.
Since I moved to Fountain Hills, until two years ago, I had not seen anything special on July 4th but had heard many stories of the special celebrations in the past. I am glad that the town has again had fireworks to mark this special day. I hope they become a Fountain Hills tradition.

Four years ago the Fountain Hills Republican Club decided to try to bring back some of the specialness of Independence Day celebrations to our town. I think it was Bruce Hansen who first suggested it at a FHRC Board meeting. But, no matter who first suggested it, the board quickly adopted the idea. Not having budgeted for it, the club started out small and was happy with the results. In planning for the next year, the committee chair, Tait Elkie, together with the board soon realized that the Republican Club could not take the event to the next level -- a family friendly, nonpartisan, patriotic special event with a spectacular main draw. Tait volunteered to take over and successfully raised the bar with his Fourth at the Fountain event, which included bands and skydivers.
Now Phyliss Kern and Christine Colley have again upped the ante with last Friday’s spectacular fireworks. Many thanks to these fine volunteers and the sponsors they solicited. Keep up the good work!
