Firewise is a national program sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association with the mission of protecting businesses, homes and personal property from the threat of wildland fire.

The program is co-sponsored by the USDA Forest Service, the U.S. Department of the Interior, and the National Association of State Foresters.

To save lives and property from wildfire, NFPA’s Firewise Communities program teaches people how to adapt to living with wildfire and encourages neighbors to work together and take action now to prevent losses.

Verdes Wildfire Protection Inc. was established for the purpose of accepting donations to support grant fund match requirements and fuel reduction maintenance projects. Tax-deductible donations may be made to Verdes Wildfire Protection Inc. and dropped off at the Rio Verde Community Association and Tonto Verde Homeowners Association offices or the Rio Verde Fire Station. Your donations will fund ongoing wildland fire prevention projects in both communities.

The success of these efforts could not have been completed without the dedication and support of Eb Scheuing and Marty Bowin.

Both Eb and Marty understand the safety benefits to the community and worked in partnership to accomplish these goals in a short period of time. The Rio Verde Fire District would like to thank Eb and Marty for their professionalism.
