I was terribly distressed when I heard of the shooting of a man by his elderly mother because they were talking of placing her in a care center. I understand that the police were there several times and nothing was done to perhaps prevent such a horrible outcome.
The mere fact that someone of that age has access to so many guns is frightening. It is not unlike having guns under lock and key around small children. I wonder if the granddaughter who believes that she should not be placed somewhere safe would be interested in taking her in. It is terribly sad, in any event, and a person lost their life because someone with limited decision-making ability had access to weapons.
I know, I know, we have a right to bear arms. I grew up around firearms and my husband and I had firearms when we were younger, but they were kept under lock and key unless we were at the range or hunting. Terribly careless consequences.
