30-50 committee
50-30 Committee member Jim Dickey gave a presentation to the board about ways the district can join the town of Fountain Hills in celebrating the upcoming 30th anniversary of the incorporation of Fountain Hills and the 50th anniversary of the Fountain.
Dickey pitched ideas like having some K-12 classroom projects, making school events such as homecoming “Fountain” themed and having students repaint the pump house mural.
The School Board was receptive to taking part in the celebrations and worked out that the best way to keep in contact with the committee is having the three site principals stay in contact with education chair Stan Ziefert.
Policies/field trip
After hearing the 50/30 presentation, School Board members transitioned to the information and discussion portion of the meeting where they discussed 19 district polices.
Some of the policies discussed, like policy JLDAC (vision testing for students), were new but most items on the agenda were simply in need of an update to coincide with changes that were made in the 2019 Arizona legislative session.
Finally, the board concluded its meeting by unanimously approving the high school cross country trip to California, Sept. 19-22 to compete in the Woodbridge Classic.
