Rural/Metro Fire Department announced that Fountain Hills Fire Chief Scott LaGreca passed away on Saturday, June 15, due to complications from his battle with cancer.
“It is with deep sadness that we share the news that our brother Chief Scott LaGreca passed away Saturday at his home in Fountain Hills,” Rural/Metro spokesman Colin Williams said.
“As we comfort and console the LaGreca family we will also begin to prepare to honor the man we all had great respect for, and a man who instilled so many positive traits in all of us.
“Our department, the fire service community, and the citizens of Fountain Hills lost a brilliant family man, public safety and civic leader.
“Let us never forget the positive impact he had on our lives and lives of the people we serve.”
LaGreca served in the fire services for 42 years. He retired from the Chicago Fire Department after 25 years before moving to Fountain Hills. He was hired in Fountain Hills in 1996 and has served here the past 17 years.
