OPINION — It was painful and embarrassing watching the Town Council meeting on Feb. 17.
A very important contract that affects the whole town couldn’t be tabled for two weeks by the ROT majority, even though four out of five citizens who spoke and many of us who weren’t there felt that our current waste removal company (Republic Services) should be awarded the business based on their expert past performance, professionalism and charity to our town, only being one point difference between the two bids.
No siree Bob! No more discussion, even though the winning bid reportedly did not meet mandatory requirements in their bid.
