Fearless Kitty Rescue in Fountain Hills is hosting a free microchip event.

The event will be held in the rescue’s north parking lot just off the Avenue Saturday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to noon.

All pet owners are invited to bring their pets to get microchipped.

A microchip is the best way to ensure pets are quickly identified and reunited with their families, according to a press release.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, one in three pets will go missing at some point. Of those, only 22% of dogs and less than 2% of cats are returned to their families. Those percentages rise dramatically if pets are microchipped.

The event is free thanks to donations from microchip manufacturer Fi Nano.

All cats must be in carriers and all dogs must be on leashes. There are no appointments required.

Fearless Kitty Rescue will also participate in the upcoming First Friday event Friday, Nov. 1. The rescue will be open from 4 to 6 p.m. for visitors and tours.

Fearless Kitty Rescue is located at 16832 E. Avenue of the Fountains.
