Fearless Kitty Rescue in Fountain Hills is hosting a free microchip event.
The event will be held in the rescue’s north parking lot just off the Avenue Saturday, Oct. 5, from 8 to 10 a.m.
All pet owners are invited to bring their pets to get microchipped.
A microchip is the best way to ensure pets are quickly identified and reunited with their families, according to a press release.
According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, one in three pets will go missing at some point. Of those, only 22% of dogs and less than 2% of cats are returned to their families. Those percentages rise dramatically if pets are microchipped.
The event is free thanks to donations from microchip manufacturer Fi Nano.
All cats must be in carriers and all dogs must be on leashes. There are no appointments required.
Those who are unable to attend the free event can attend the next microchip event Saturday, Nov. 16.
Fearless Kitty Rescue is located at 16832 E. Avenue of the Fountains. The Association of Dog Owners Group (ADOG) will also be present and are supporters of the event.
