Hidden within her response to last week’s questions to the candidates in The Times was this line from last minute, write-in mayoral candidate Ginny Dickey, “How about demonstrating that we are an inclusive, welcoming town? We don’t have that reputation now.” Who says Fountain Hills is not an inclusive, welcoming town?
Fountain Hills has always had the reputation of being a warm and friendly place and it is. That is why most of us moved here. Do we really need a mayor who thinks otherwise? Do we want someone who insults our town to be its mayor?

Say no to far-left Dickey.

Of course in Ginny Dickey’s far-left political mind, I suppose that Fountains Hills is a cold and intolerant place. No doubt Ginny is still fuming from the failure of her proposed town LGBTQ non-discrimination law to pass. That far-left idea would have extended special protective status to transgender individuals (or those claiming to be) even when they used public bathrooms, school and gym showers, and dressing rooms of the opposite sex!
Most of the town’s religious leaders and many in the business community who would have been exposed to lawsuits for following their religious principles vehemently opposed Dickey’s LGBTQ ordinance. It did not pass.
Fountain Hills does not need Ginny Dickey’s leftist political agenda, nor does it need her bad-mouthing our town. If Dickey wants to live in that type of town, I say “Go west to Berkley, where your ideas would be appreciated!”
