With less than a minute remaining in the half, Florence scored on a pass play to make it 28-7 going into the locker room.
The game was scoreless in the third quarter, but the Falcons went up 35-7 on a long McDermott to Montalbano pass play in the fourth quarter.
The three-hour game was riddled with penalties and minor injury timeouts, but the Gophers never gave up. Florence scored with less than five minutes remaining in regulation to make it 35-14, but the Falcons weren't satisfied yet. Atienza scored once again, this time on a pass from QB Trace Langer, and after a missed extra point, the game was at 41-14.
The Gophers put up a lot of passes, and a final one that connected for a score with about 25 seconds left in the game, made the final tally 41-21.
The 2-0 Falcons take on Coolidge in an away game Friday, Sept. 13.
