Fountain Hills’ first playoff match of the post-season is this Friday, Nov. 2, against Horizon Honors at 11 a.m. The match is away at Camelback High School.
Head coach Pete McGloin said he was disappointed with the way the Lady Falcons’ game against Arizona College Prep went.
“It seemed like a carryover of our struggles from the weekend,” McGloin said. “There was very little resilience. We had glimpses of fire and energy but as soon as something didn’t go our way, we got frustrated.”
As discouraged as he was by the Arizona College Prep match, McGloin felt much better after a team meeting the next day.
“Happily, the next day we had a nice team meeting,” McGloin said. “We were watching some old footage and the energy was great. You can see that players care about each other. I feel like no one has given up on themselves or each other yet.”
That energy McGloin felt carried over to the Lady Falcons’ next match.
“We went out and just played the game much better,” McGloin said. “It is just an example of what we have to do going into playoffs. We have to be lifting each other.”
McGloin said he feels that, if the Lady Falcons take that energy into the playoffs, they’ll be fine.
“I have been saying this all season,” McGloin said. “When we are playing our best, we can beat anyone.”
