Just days before Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year and one of the holiest days on the Jewish calendar, Chabad of Fountain Hills is preparing to welcome Jews from all backgrounds to their warm and inspiring High Holiday services.
Chabad’s services are designed to be engaging and meaningful for everyone, whether experienced or new to Jewish prayer.
With a blend of song, commentary and English-Hebrew prayerbooks, participants are able to follow along and actively take part in the services at their own comfort level.
“According to Jewish tradition, on the Jewish New Year, the doors of Heaven are open. G-d accepts prayers from everyone,” said Rabbi Mendy Lipskier, who is hosting the free services in Fountain Hills. “The least we can do is open our doors as well — to the entire community.”
Rabbi Lipskier added, “The Lubavitcher Rebbe, of righteous memory, emphasized that Judaism is for every Jew. During the High Holidays, accessibility means different things to different people — for some, it’s affordability; for others, it’s a welcoming, non-judgmental environment; and for many, it’s the ability to follow along clearly. Our mission is to lower barriers and help every Jew connect to these most sacred and introspective days.”
For many who attend, the services leave a lasting impression.
“Last year was my very first time joining a Chabad service,” said David R., a local community member. “I didn’t know what to expect, but I was blown away by the warmth and inclusiveness. The explanations helped me follow along, the melodies were uplifting, and I walked away feeling more connected to my heritage than ever before. It was truly a transformative experience.”
Rosh Hashanah begins this year after sundown on Monday, Sept. 22, and continues through nightfall on Wednesday, Sept. 24. Yom Kippur begins after sundown on the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 1 and ends at nightfall on Thursday, Oct. 2.
All High Holiday services will be held at the Chabad Edelman Jewish Center, 16830 E. Avenue of the Fountains,
