Experience

I have neither the knowledge, patience or experience to be a town council member. They give so much of their time and knowledge to the community. For their selfless volunteerism, I am very grateful. I am also grateful that Alan Magazine has been on the town council for the past four years. His wisdom and experience has been vital to us. We need to keep Alan a director of our town’s future.

At a time when we need the most experienced, level-headed decisions, we are fortunate to have Alan serving. He is deeply concerned with the town’s transparency issues. As he said at the candidate’s forum, “we need a much, much stronger partnership between the citizens and their elected officials.” The council’s actions and decisions need to be public.

Alan plans to further the town’s relationship with the biggest employer in town. He has encouraged the council to continue joint meetings with the FHUSD school board, as it is important for both the town and the district to know and understand each other. One of the first questions people ask a realtor when considering a move is, “what is the school district like?” No school district is perfect, but our school district has received state and local accolades.

Three other candidates have been questioning the school district’s quality. That is not the attitude of support I would seek for our students’ education and our town’s biggest employer. We need to work together to bring our students the best education possible.

Alan believes that the public’s input is paramount to the town’s success. The town has spoken on the property tax question. We need to move forward with new ideas to finance our little oasis in the desert. Alan Magazine’s know-how will help guide the council in the most effective direction.
