High temperatures in excess of 110 degrees will affect the lower deserts of southern Arizona today into Thursday as high pressure builds over the area, leading to the issuance of the Excessive Heat Warning.
Very warm overnight lows are expected tonight with readings from the mid 80s to low 90s expected over the warmer lower deserts, including the greater Phoenix area.

Excessive heat in forecast

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for the Phoenix area to last through 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 31.
High temperatures in excess of 110 degrees will affect the lower deserts of southern Arizona today into Thursday as high pressure builds over the area, leading to the issuance of the Excessive Heat Warning.
Very warm overnight lows are expected tonight with readings from the mid 80s to low 90s expected over the warmer lower deserts, including the greater Phoenix area.
While included in the warning area, the forecast for Fountain Hills is somewhat more moderate with a project high temperature of 103 on Thursday with an overnight low of 83 degrees.
People are reminded to stay hydrated, wear light colored, loose fitting clothing and take frequent breaks.
Cooler temperatures are anticipated for Friday into the weekend as humidity levels rise.
