Many of us have heard voters say, “...but my one vote doesn’t really make a difference.” Several of the individual races in recent elections have been decided by a small margin; maybe not just one vote, but still a small number of votes.
As I write this, the final results of the Aug. 30 election are not available, but the current tally again reveals several very close contests. In nearby Congressional District 5, the margin between Andy Biggs and Christine Jones (prior to a recount) is only 16 votes out of about 85,000 cast. In the race for Maricopa County Recorder, the difference is only 202 votes out of over 300,000 cast.

As of this writing, for Fountain Hills Town Council, Art Tolis leads Mike Archambault by only eight votes. So, maybe the vote of one person wouldn’t technically change the outcome of these races, but get a not-so-large group of these persons to vote, and it could definitely make a difference. It’s important to learn about the candidates and the issues and exercise your right to vote. It may make a difference.
In another local contest, several recent letters to the editor addressed the race for Republican precinct committeemen in Golden Eagle precinct. The final results are in; Judy and I won re-election. We extend our thanks to those who voted for us, and for the other dedicated candidates who ran for this office with us. It was our pleasure to meet and speak with many of you and we sincerely appreciate your support.
