English language vote in Fountain Hills was shameful

OPINION – Whew! I am so relieved and grateful the Town Council finally addressed the town’s most-pressing issue on Nov. 18 by voting to make English the official language of the Town of Fountain Hills. Muchas gracias!

Since 1991, when I came to Fountain Hills, and especially since Dec. 6,  2024, I have lost sleep every night, worrying that there was no official language. I’m simply amazed the town’s government has even been able to function for over three decades without an official language.

Having an official language doesn’t change anything, but it allows a majority of the council members to feel superior. It also gives them the opportunity to puff out their chests about one of the “great” things they did during their tenure.
