Encore For More will host Fountain Hills resident Carleen Watts Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 1 to 2:15 p.m. at the Fountain Hills Community Center.
Watts is a certified fraud examiner (CFE) who will answer the question: “What lurks within the dark hallways of the tourist attraction you are about to visit while fulfilling your dream vacation abroad?”
Highly skilled predators wait to gain access to anything one carries, striking when one least expects it, a press release read.
At the presentation, guests will learn how to heighten their awareness and learn basic but routinely ignored travel tips for safeguarding the most important items - cash, credit cards, ATM cards, cellphones and passports.
Attendees will also learn what steps to take to make the remainder of your trip less stressful and enjoyable if they fall victim to predators.
Watts served as a special agent (criminal investigator) for the U.S. government for over 32 years. She worked within the Inspectors General community investigating internal fraud for the U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Defense, the Veterans Administration and the U.S. Postal Service. During her tenure, Watts also served as a senior instructor and program coordinator at the Financial Fraud Institute.
This presentation is free and open to the public but pre-registration is required by signing up online at FountainHillsAZ.gov/REC. Course #2928.
This presentation is sponsored by the Town of Fountain Hills Community Center.
