Early unofficial election results

The morning after the Town Council election there are only a couple of most likely scenarios. With the first unofficial results it appears that incumbent Councilmen Dennis Brown (3,084) and Cecil Yates (2,961) have been re-elected to another term.

The third seat vacated by the retiring Councilwoman Cassie Hansen remains undecided in the early returns. Former Councilman Mike Archambault (2,469) holds a thin lead over Art Tolis (2,454), a margin of just 15 votes.

Timothy Rawlings received 1,649 votes.

The initial returns show Mayor Linda Kavanagh with 3,433 votes. However votes for official write-in candidate Ginny Dickey have not been counted.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, a Fountain Hills resident, easily won the Republican primary with nearly 189,000 votes, or 66-percent of those cast. Challenger Dan Saban received 26 percent of the ballots.

The Republican candidates for State Legislature all ran uncontested in the primary. Senator John Kavanagh will return to office in January.

Representatives Jay Lawrence and Michelle Ugenti-Rita will face Democratic challenger Tammy Caputi in November.
