It appears Kim Duckworth will join incumbent Dr. Richard Rutkowski in claiming the final two seats on the Fountain Hills Unified School District Governing Board.
Three seats on the board will be filled following the General Election. However, Bernie Hoenle ran unopposed and will fill one of the vacancies. Dr. Anne Evans, Kim Duckworth and incumbent Dr. Richard Rutkowski were on the ballot to win the final two seats.
Duckworth and Rutkowski are the current frontrunners for the last two seats on the school board. Latest results (as of Nov. 13 at 6:25 p.m.)showed Duckworth in the lead with 7,791 votes (34.38%). Right behind her was Rutkowski with 7,644 votes (33.82%). Evans trailed with 7,208 votes (31.81%). With Maricopa County winding down initial counting efforts, it appears this is about where the final results will come to rest. Results are not official, however, until canvassed in the coming weeks.
