While walking through the Great Fair this past February, I was stopped by a visitor with her camera who wanted directions to the Fountain. I pointed down Fountain Hills Boulevard and said, “Just walk toward the lake. You’ll see it in 10 minutes.” She thanked me and rushed off, dodging the other fair visitors to capture the sight.
That brief exchange reminded me of my concern for the town’s future, should the fountain stop working with no money to repair it or, for that matter, no money to replace the liner for the lake, or for our street repairs, or lack of funds to keep the town’s services functioning, or any of the other amenities that make Fountain Hills a desirable place in which to live.

Ten years ago, Fountain Hills was on the list of the 10 best places to live in Arizona. My husband and I were delighted to know that we had made a sound real estate investment. Sadly, our town is no longer on that list. Without the town property tax, I fear a drop in the value of our condo and, when the time comes, a drop in the sale price.
Surely, it is in every homeowner’s self-interest to support the town property tax. We’re voting yes and I hope everyone else will do the same.
