Driving

In light of the terrible accident March 13 in our beautiful town that resulted in three deaths, I believe all of us should think hard about how we drive: Speeding, driving reckless, texting, being distracted, being in a hurry, cutting people off, always wanting to be first. The list goes on.

The speeding and lack of respect for others seems to be getting worse in our town. We are neighbors and fellow citizens of this awesome community. We’ve all driven like this in one way or another and all of these ways can lead to serious consequences.

I don’t know what caused the driver last week to run these people over, but it made me think about how a bad decision could change my life forever and someone else’s. I don’t mean to sound preachy because I’m certainly not a perfect driver, but I will make the choice from now on to slow down, be respectful of others and do my best to pay attention while behind the wheel. That’s the least I can do.
