Driver's ed

Some drivers seem to have forgotten or just ignore the rules of driving. Perhaps you have been victimized by them.

The “NASCAR Wannabee” – This driver views every trip as a competition, cutting in and out of traffic at speeds well above the limit. You will be cut off when there is a clog in his/her lane.

The “Four Way Stop Cheat” – A four-way stop is a chance to take advantage of whomever is next in the progression. If you hesitate for an instant…zoom there he/she goes out of turn.

The “Lane Clogger” – This driver goes 10 to 15 miles below the limit, creating a jam to their rear. On a four-lane road, they camp in the left lane because they have to make a left turn 10 miles ahead. They also clog the supermarket lanes by placing their cart in the center of the lane so no one can pass. They have been known to hold town meetings with their friends in the middle.

The “Bad Samaritan” – They are making a left turn but, before they do, they allow cars across the road to enter traffic, sometimes emptying a parking lot, totally oblivious to other drivers waiting behind them.

The “Cutoff Elite” – You are proceeding down the road. There is no traffic behind you. Suddenly, a car emerges from either side forcing you to brake or hit them. The cutoff elitist then slows down in front of you.

I advised my children to expect other drivers to do the worst possible thing so you can prepare for it. This letter may help some of us to be aware of the rights of others. If not, stay calm and drive defensively.
