In response to the letter from the Rescue Pals people…I happened to be at the park when the dog incident happened last week. I agree that rescue dogs need exercise and should be walked by people who can handle them.
The dog that was attacked in October was also a rescue dog and well loved by its owner. However, it is not my intention to re-hash what is past.
The fact is that I walk the park daily and have seen this Vadar dog several times with his owner. Each time the animal strained at his leash and reared up on his hind legs barking and attempting to get away (which is exactly what he did last week) while his owner said calmly NO and sometimes continued playing with his I-phone. Each time I have protected my dog by taking her away the other way, as I have seen others do. I have been constantly wary of this untrained, vicious animal.

This could be confirmed by a number of people if they chose to respond. However, I do not see how the community can choose which dogs can be allowed in the park. It is up to owners to train their animals to behave and also have a good hold on their leashes.
I am grateful and surprised that the white dog was unhurt.
