I feel the need to respond to Ann Schweers’ letter to the editor last week stating that she is distressed by the National Day of Prayer event coming this week.

I would agree that being distressed about world hunger, violence, hatred, threat of nuclear war and the immorality that has become epidemic in our society and man's inhumanity to man is serious danger globally, and many other evils that exist needs to be addressed. But National Day of Prayer objection registers a flat zero on the distressed meter.

I wonder if she would be distressed if Muslims held an event honoring Allah and their church doctrine and would be vocal about it. Not meant to insult Muslims but for comparison only.

Ann also goes to extreme efforts to make a case of intrusion on separation of church and state where there is none. Attendance is voluntary and all faiths are welcome and those who don’t pray are also invited to stand unified in a vision for a better world.

It seems that traditional Christianity is now on the need-not-apply list and is endorsed by many democratic leaders. Contempt for our flag and patriotic music seems to be distressful, as stated in her letter.

God bless America and all the patriots who truly love America and are standing strong for her survival.
