I am a teacher at Fountain Hills Middle School, and this year I am teaching a STEM elective class for 4th/5th grade. I wanted to do a quarter of study about the science of crime scene investigation.
I contacted our School Resource Officer, Deputy Michael Brooks of the MCSO, and he immediately agreed to work with me on this curriculum. He personally invited several of his colleagues in to speak to my class throughout the quarter about specific aspects of what the class was learning at the time. They got to meet a forensic anthropologist, several detectives and crime scene technicians. Deputy Brooks presented as well.
He also planned and prepared the dig sites featured in the newspaper last week, along with Deputy Palumbo. Both deputies then spent the morning at the dig site with my class of 29 students. I am very grateful for the investment in the educational pursuit, and the very proactive community policing by all of the MSCO personnel.

Deputy Brooks is an amazing and professional SRO, and we are so fortunate to have him and his colleagues from MCSO serving our community and school.
