Democrats don’t have the numbers in Fountain Hills

OPINION — Here is a factual perspective of the upcoming Fountain Hills mayor and council race.

According to Maricopa County Elections, Fountain Hills voter registration shows the following: Republicans (8,626); Democrats (3,768); non-affiliated (5,962); other parties (258); total registered voters (18,614).

Once again there is a Democratic slate and a Republican slate (Friedel, Corrigan, Kovacevic and Larrabee). These are “nonpartisan races,” which only means there is no “R” or “D” next to names on the ballot. Nothing precludes candidates from self-identifying their political affiliation, or their opponents. Nothing! In fact, the majority of voters these days want to know.
