Dementia Caregiver Summit reflects growing need for support in Fountain Hills

Around the same time Fountain Hills became a recognized Dementia Friendly community four years ago, Councilwoman Peggy McMahon’s husband was diagnosed with dementia.

“When this journey began, I knew very little about dementia,” McMahon said. “Suddenly, this work became deeply personal for both of us.”

Her experience mirrors a broader shift within the community. As Fountain Hills’ population continues to age, more families are navigating Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of cognitive impairment, bringing emotional and financial pressures that often go unseen.
