The Town Council voted affirmative on the amendment from MCO to substantially increase the development of Adero Canyon. No one is surprised. However, the voices were loud and clear from the people who own property in an upscale neighborhood where construction plans would adversely affect them. Our neighbors at Cordabella border Fountain Hills with Scottsdale have added so much to the economy of our town for over 14 years. Their address is Scottsdale but their mail goes to 85268.
The major contention dealt with the use and abuse of Eagle Ridge Drive. MCO representatives were adamant that this was the only route ingress and egress to the canyon. When the subject was raised about civil defense evacuation safety and quick access for emergency vehicles, a new access route was provided by MCO. I feel this access route could be developed enough to also serve construction and service vehicles. When all the phases of construction have been completed, that would be a time to consider opening Eagle Ridge Drive to Adero Canyon.

I’m not against the development of Adero Canyon. There are a number of thoughts I have about the rezoning and variance decisions that were made. The six members of the Town Council were much more in favor of the amendment as well as the mayor. No contest.
A letter to The Times from a man who brought his young family to Fountain Hills supported my voice about economic and financial opportunities lacking in our town. Why did so many people leave Fountain Hills?
What will be incentive for young families to purchase homes or condos in Adero Canyon? My husband and I are retirees looking to Adero Canyon for our final home with a casita. We want new quality construction. What will bring young families here to assure the growth and development of this lovely town we chose as our primary residence?
