Acceptance of all Heritage Foundation and Club For Growth positions a pre-requisite.

Congressional applications to be screened by Senator Ted Cruz. No reasonable Republicans need apply.

-- Tea Party of America

A 15-day debacle is behind us with the possibility of another fiasco occurring in a few short months. Many members of Congress say what has happened easily exceeded the threshold of “stupid.” The most powerful financial nation in the world publicly hanging high the banner of incompetence.

While I am a Democrat, perhaps even a bleeding heart one, I take no joy in watching the Republican Party struggle through an identity crisis. The country needs two strong political parties as neither side has a stranglehold on sound ideas.

This way of thinking is contrary to the Tea Party followers who feel only their positions matter as they go bumping and thumping around willy- nilly in their often crude attempts to smash anything and anyone who dares to disagree with them.

Negotiation and compromise, the key elements to governing an ever more diverse and polarized electorate, are anathema to this far, far, right pseudo Republican adventure.

Tea Partiers are constantly saying they need to “take the country back.” A small arrogant and selfish minority wishes to dictate the terms of surrender to a much larger more pragmatic majority. How undemocratic is that? Do not let this happen for the sake of the country!
