Residents in the neighborhood around Fayette and Balsam drives report being disturbed around midnight Friday by police activity in the area.
The Times received reports of a helicopter overhead, a SWAT team and noise from “flash bang” devices or gunshots.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office reported they were assisting the federal Drug Enforcement Administration with an operation, but referred any inquiry to DEA.
DEA spokeswoman Ramona Sanchez said MCSO assisted DEA is serving more than one search warrant in the area. She said DEA is investigating a potential narcotics distribution ring, and it is still an ongoing investigation.
