Debbie J. Elder, founder of Culinary Curator in Fountain Hills, invites the community to experience two culinary events this season — the Passport to Taste Kids Cooking Series and a special Summer Tomato Dinner and Cooking Demo.
Passport to Taste: Kids Cooking Classes
This immersive five-part series introduces children (ages eight through teens) to the flavors of the world while teaching valuable kitchen skills.
Each session focuses on a different cuisine: Greek, Asian, French, Mexican and Italian, with lessons on culinary techniques like knife skills, measuring, baking and kitchen safety.
Students will work in small groups to prepare the featured dishes, enjoy their creations together and take-home copies of each recipe. The first class is Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature Greek cuisine, including lemon hummus, Greek yogurt dip, chicken souvlaki and Greek almond cookies.
The Kids Cooking Classes are held various Saturdays, from Aug. 2, through Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Debbie’s Kitchen Studio, 16747 E. Parkview Avenue, Suite #9.
The cost is $65 per class per student or $300 for the full five-class series and is limited to eight students per class. A medical authorization form is required and advance notice of food allergies is requested. Close-toed shoes and tied-back hair are required per health code.
Summer Tomato Dinner & Cooking Demo
Celebrate summer with a tomato-inspired five-course dinner prepared by Elder. Guests will enjoy dishes like roasted tomato gazpacho with garlic toast, baked mahi mahi with tomato caper sauce and basil panna cotta with tomato relish.
Elder will guide attendees through the preparation of each dish during a live cooking demonstration. Recipes will be provided for guests to recreate the menu at home.
The Summer Tomato Dinner and Cooking Demo is Saturday, Aug. 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Debbie’s Kitchen Studio.
The cost is $90 per person (tax included) and BYOB is welcome with a $10 corkage fee.
