Couture: Skillicorn is dragging Fountain Hills down
At the March 5 Town Council meeting, Councilman Allen Skillicorn and friends called the possible sanctions of his behavior as politically motivated.
If being against his nasty behavior is considered politically motivated rather than good common sense, let him call it whatever his definition is.
I recently attended a large charitable cancer event in Phoenix. I met a few new folks there. When I mentioned I live in Fountain Hills, one lady’s response horrified me. She said, “Oh, that’s the poor town with the (several very unflattering descriptors) on your Town Council.”

I was taken aback, used to folks telling me how lovely my town is and that it must be a wonderful place to live, with all the art fairs, the Dark Sky activities and Fountain Park.
Asked why she felt this way, she replied she had been forwarded some of Councilman Skillicorn’s nasty media posts and had read a news article about his ethical violations. His posts, his behavior and his unethical actions are soiling our town’s reputation.
Councilman, you claim freedom of speech as your right. I call foul on that. The day you stepped into your position on council, you gave up some of that freedom. What you post and do now reflects on all of us in our town.
I lost to you, Mr. Skillicorn, by only a few votes in that 2022 election. I expected you, the winner, to represent every person in our town with dignity and respect. You certainly have not done so. It’s time to do the right thing and resign.
