This council’s code of ethics states that the residents of Fountain Hills are entitled to a fair, ethical and accountable government, which has earned the public’s full confidence. The ROT-endorsed council has destroyed that trust. And they continue to embarrass our community in the headlines.
We know now, based on multiple stories, that Councilmember Earle and at least one other councilmember had communications with Timothy LaSota’s law firm before any of the overbilling allegations were made against Aaron Arnson’s firm by Councilmember Earle. This appears, to me, to be a clear violation of Arizona’s conflict of interest law. I believe it is also a clear violation of the council’s own code of ethics.
We also now know Councilmember Skillicorn's hit-and-run allegations are a big deal. It states in the police report Skillicorn allegedly told the other driver he did not want law enforcement involved in the Tempe case. Why? Especially since Skillicorn had allegedly just left what the police report identified as a “beer fest.”
Skillicorn has also been issued traffic citations on two occasions in Scottsdale since becoming a council member. Both times, according to the police reports, he was issued citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
How much more embarrassment do the residents have to endure?
Councilmember Earle and Councilmember Skillicorn are liabilities for our community. It’s time they both resign and spare Fountain Hills any further embarrassment.
