Council to talk landscaping, asphalt contracts

The town council will hold a study session prior to its regular meeting on Tuesday, March 6.
The work session will focus on economic development with a presentation by Joe Fackel, executive vice president, and Bear Burnett, retail development director. Both are with Retail Strategies LLC, and they will talk about the discovery phase findings and retail recruitment plan they are preparing for the town.
The regular agenda for the council includes several purchase agreements, a contract amendment and budget transfers.
The town is adding tree trimming and removal to its agreement with Somerset Landscaping and Maintenance in an amount not to exceed $50,000.
Cooperative purchase agreements include Pro Em Party and Event Rentals for up to $75,000 with an option for four one-year renewals.
A second agreement is with M.R. Tanner Development and Construction in the amount of $2.5 million for asphalt replacement and miscellaneous street repair work. There is also a co-op agreement with Roadsafe Traffic Systems not to exceed $30,000.
The budget transfers include $2,246.25 for holiday lighting; $600,000 for added contract costs for Fire Station #2; $50,000 for the May 15 special election; $160,000 for unbudgeted interim town attorney costs and $900 for increase in landscaping costs for the Cottonwoods Maintenance District.
The council will also consider the appointment of three people to serve on the Planning and Zoning Commission.
The study session is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall with the regular session to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6.
The meeting is open to the public.
