The Town Council will take time at its regular session this week to recognize Community Services Director Mark Mayer for his more than 15 years of service to the Town of Fountain Hills.
Mayer recently announced his retirement and will leave the job in May.
The council will hold a public hearing and consider a special use permit for Verizon Wireless to construct a faux water tank near the entry to the Adero Canyon subdivision to house transmission equipment.
The tower needs the permit because its design is over height at 34 feet and does not meet requirements for fall distance.
The Planning and Zoning Commission voted 5-2 to recommend the permit be approved.
Also, the council will consider authorizing a grant request to the Arizona Tourism and Sports Authority for installation of lights at the skate park in Desert Vista Park.
The town’s portion for a matching grant would be $23,800.
Prior to the regular session the council will meet in closed executive session to discuss the annual performance review for Town Manager Grady Miller.
Also, beginning at 6 p.m. staff will be available in an open house format to discuss with the public aspects of the proposed town budget for the next fiscal year.
The council meets on Thursday, April 20, at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
