Council forms Building Safety Board of Appeals
Posted
The Town Council voted 6-0 at its Feb. 18, regular session to establish a new Building Safety Board of Appeals.
The vote also included the appointment of five members of the board along with three alternate members.
The five who will make up the board include Mark Dohrmann, architect; William Christenson, structural engineer; Thomas Johnston, mechanical engineer; Wayne Delaware, Scottsdale Electric, LLC; and Michael Lister, Western States Fire Protection Corp.
The three alternates are Leland Yoder, general contractor; John Bercel, general contractor and John French, Olympic West Fire Protection Corp.
Town Manager Grady Miller told the council that the town has received a request for an appeal of a building safety inspector’s interpretation of code. The town has never had a board of appeals for building safety.
The International Building Code 2012, which is the code the town is currently using, has provisions for naming an appeals board and outlines qualifications for members.
The members will serve three-year terms.
Miller said the formation of the board will allow the appeal request to be heard in the event a formal appeal application is filed.
