The Town Council voted 4-3 Tuesday evening to fire Town Attorney Andrew McGuire and his firm, Gust Rosenfled, effective immediately.
The motion to terminate the agreement with the attorneys came from Councilman Dennis Brown. He was supported by Mayor Linda Kavanagh and Council members Art Tolis and Cecil Yates.
Kavanagh and Yates presented a litany of issues with legal representation dating back to the start of McGuire’s tenure in 2002.

Council fires attorney on 4-3 vote
Posted
The Town Council voted 4-3 Tuesday evening to fire Town Attorney Andrew McGuire and his firm, Gust Rosenfled, effective immediately.
The motion to terminate the agreement with the attorneys came from Councilman Dennis Brown. He was supported by Mayor Linda Kavanagh and Council members Art Tolis and Cecil Yates.
Kavanagh and Yates presented a litany of issues with legal representation dating back to the start of McGuire’s tenure in 2002.
However, the focus of this discussion seemed to be based on a discussion McGuire had with an attorney for one of the partners in the Park Place development. At the request of the second attorney McGuire worked to set up a meeting between finance officials of the town and the partner in order to resolve the issue surrounding unpaid development fees.
Kavanagh heard about the meeting and was upset it was done without consulting her. She said other members of the council were separately negotiating with N-Shea Group, the developer on the project, to resolve the fee issue.
