Council approves meeting schedule for next year

The first order of business for the new Town Council when it met on Dec. 4 was approval of a proposed meeting calendar for 2019.

The council made no changes to its current regular schedule of meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month, with work sessions tentatively scheduled for the second Tuesday of the month.

New Year’s Day is a Tuesday in 2019 and that meeting is cancelled. The council also blocked out its summer hiatus for the month of July and the first Tuesday in August. The second regular meeting in August is also cancelled due to the annual conference for the Arizona League of Cities and Towns.

However, it was decided that two full months off for the summer was too long. The council has scheduled a regular session for Tuesday, Aug. 13.

It was also noted that special sessions or budget discussions and an annual retreat are scheduled independently and will be announced as needed.

Legal postings for council meetings are required by law only 24 hours prior to the start of the session.

The council also approved a consent agenda that included several applications for special event liquor licenses.
