An overflow crowd of well over 100 people squeezed into council chambers and the Town Hall lobby Thursday evening to hear the council discussion and voice their opinion about the proposed Park Place development downtown.
Supporters slightly outnumbered those opposed during the public comment period, and the same was true of the council vote, which was 4-3 in favor of the minor General Plan amendment and the development agreement on the table.
Mayor Linda Kavanagh along with Councilmembers Dennis Brown, Nick DePorter and Cecil Yates supported the proposal as presented by the developer.

Vice Mayor Henry Leger and Councilmembers Cassie Hansen and Alan Magazine cast the “no” votes. Leger made several attempts to amend the proposals in an effort to reduce the density and building height of the project, but those were defeated on the same 3-4 split.
