The Town Council has approved a new part-time position for an economic development specialist to assist in implementing an economic development plan adopted by the council earlier this year.
Town Manager Ken Buchanan said an earlier attempt to find someone to do the work under contract was unsuccessful. He said he has found someone qualified for the position, but the job was removed from the town's listing of authorized positions and needed to be restored.
The job will pay $37 per hour for 25 hours per week. It is possible that the position could be expanded to include the implementation of a tourism promotion program for Fountain Hills.
