As a boy in school, while studying about WWII, I learned that one of the reasons we won that war – that of our moral high ground; that “Americans have a high regard for human life, and the Japanese and Germans (at that time) did not.”
“The Rape of Nanking” and “The Holocaust” were given as examples of their misdeeds. Americans were not supposed to do such things and mostly did not.
As a boy, abortion was illegal in all 50 states.

“Pro-Lifers” and many other Americans still have a high regard for human life.
But consider: All these shootings occurring on a daily basis, I wonder, has something significant changed in our society to explain this outburst of shootings?
What comes to mind are the 50 million fetuses thrown away, aborted under Roe v Wade. Could it be that those deaths really represent a cheapening of the worth of human life in America today? And has a direction toward greater immorality been set in place; such that no one, not even the Justices who rendered that decision, or the “Pro-Choicers,” could have predicted?
(By the way, “Pro-Choice” is a name given by itself, essentially a marketing ploy and a misnomer. Aborting is not the choice, choosing to not engage in sexual intercourse is the choice, among other choices).
Roe v Wade is an arguable case of unforeseen “consequences.” See Galatians 6:7-8 (KJV).
