Our elected Members of Congress are, of course, elected to represent us and vote according to the will of their constituents. Sometimes they follow this commitment, but we can all probably identify situations when this is not the case.
The public approval of Congress is low, so what can we do to improve the situation? Part of our job as informed citizens is to keep them on track, maintain a watchful eye over them, monitor their votes, and give them feedback, both positive and negative, as appropriate. This feedback can be given by e-mail or by phone, but is best delivered in person, ideally one-on-one.

On Tuesday, Aug. 18, Fountain Hills AZ Tea Party welcomes our Congressman, David Schweikert, to our monthly meeting. Congressman Schweikert will provide us the latest update on current issues -- the “deal” with Iran, the effort to stop government funding (our money) of Planned Parenthood, etc.
As with all of our meetings, there will be ample opportunity to ask questions and share your thoughts and concerns. You are invited to join us at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at the FHUSD Learning Center (Palisades and Golden Eagle boulevards) for what promises to be an informative evening. Admission is free. Donations to cover expenses are gratefully accepted.
All interested parties are welcome to come, bring some friends, listen, learn and ask questions. We hope to see you there! For more info, visit www.fhteaparty.org.
