Congratulations to Bernadine

Our congratulations go out to Bernadine Burnette, who has officially been elected the next President of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation.

If Burnette’s name rings a bell, it’s because she’s been highly involved in Fort McDowell government, events and activities for many years.

As outlined in a press release from the Nation, Burnette takes up this four-year term as president after previously holding other Tribal Council positions including council member, vice president and a previous run as president.

Also winning this most recent election are Pamela Mott, who has been re-elected for a fourth consecutive term as treasurer, as well as Council Member Gerald Doka, who will begin his second term in office.

The swearing in and inaugural festivities will be held on Feb. 9 in Fort McDowell, according to the announcement. More details on that event will be made available as they are provided.

We look forward to Burnette, Mott and Doka’s continued service within Fort McDowell, as well as sharing their next four years’ worth of stories with the community.
