As more bizarre info comes out about the behavior of the Chamber of Commerce, it’s as Alice said in Wonderland, “It just gets curiouser and curiouser!”
What are they so afraid about transparency regarding the Chamber’s finances? Why is questioning the salaries such a secret that they tried to intimidate a former Chamber “Business Person of the Year” with bullying and a tape recorder?
It reminds me of several years ago when a free local paper had a website and a town resident posted a comment to the effect that the “powers that be” at the Chamber were lining their pockets with incoming cash. What an uproar!

Ferrara and others threatened to sue the paper, the poster and anyone else they could think of just for questioning how the Chamber uses their money? It really makes it look like they’re hiding something when they get hysterical about anyone questioning the finances.
For me, the main issue began when the Town started handing them money. The Chamber should have plenty of money to run a tourism bureau on their own if they weren’t paying outrageous salaries. The Chamber should be supporting the town, not the other way around.
Another example of the Chamber running roughshod over the best interests of the town is the early closing of the streets for the recent art fair.
It was published in the paper that streets would be closed at 2 p.m. However, the Chamber did not honor that. When we went to the post office at 12:30, that end of the Avenue of the Fountains was already closed.
To gain the trust residents, the Chamber needs to do a thorough “house-cleaning,” become transparent about current salaries and post the salary when a new CEO is hired.
