We’ve all heard, “coming out of the closet,” which generally refers to making something public that heretofore was hidden or kept secret. Well I’m going to talk about “going into the closet,” which will mean taking a public issue out of public scrutiny and hiding it out of sight and eliminating it from public participation and knowledge.
I refer to our public officials playing a confidence game assuring “We the People” lose. Information is kept hidden and discussion is buried. In this dark morass these officials manipulate and corrupt the public’s desires for their own purposes. When the resulting beast is released to the light of day there is no opportunity for public viewing or debate. We briefly wail and complain but soon get sidetracked by the next confidence game.
A prime example is the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and we still don’t know what it is. I also hate “pork barrel” spending. We only hear about the pork after it’s too late. We keep getting “porked” and it never gets fixed. Why?

With this next election we are still hearing the incumbents campaigning as to how they will be the next beast slayers. Yes, you’re correct, these are the same officials who created the beasts. Our candidates tell us that there is a certain amount of “going along to get along” to succeed. That’s bull. I think I just stepped in a cow pie.
Patrick Henry: “The liberties of a people never were, nor never will be, secure, when the transactions of their rulers may be concealed from them.”
JFK: “We can’t negotiate with people who say what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is negotiable.”
Think about it: How can today’s conditions get any better with the same establishment people?
