This is a national, even global concern; however, it may be said that civility begins at home, and event organizers believe it is a discussion worth having at the local level leading to this special community event to share ideas on the topic.
Experts on the topic who will be featured speakers include Evan Lowe, a professor at ASU in the School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership, who has spoken frequently on this topic. Also, Patrick O’Grady, editor-in-chief for Independent Newspapers, will provide an overview of the newspapers’ Civility Pledge and how the civility discussion is happening across the country.
