Church of the Ascension in Fountain Hills, a Roman Catholic church, celebrated a major occasion for two of its youth members recently.
Luna DeLeon and Levi Cuff received both the Sacrament of First Holy Communion and the Sacrament of Confirmation on April 19 during a special liturgy, according to a press release. The release said that the double celebration commemorated a deepening of their commitment to the Catholic faith and their full initiation into the church community.
The ceremony was officiated by Bishop John P. Dolan, the spiritual leader of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix, the second largest Catholic Diocese in the United States.
