Church recognizes Pastor Emeritus Don Lawrence

Posted

Christ’s Church of Fountain Hills recently recognized its founding pastor, Don Lawrence, as Pastor Emeritus during the church’s 41st anniversary celebration.

During the celebration, Pastor Lawrence was presented with a certificate from current Lead Pastor Keith Pavia and church elders.

Lawrence started his service as the founding pastor of Christ’s Church in 1984. He served for 33 years.

Living in Arizona since he was 12 years old, Lawrence attended Moon Valley High School and studied at Glendale Community College for two years. He earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Pacific Christian College in Fullerton, Calif., and was ordained into the ministry at First Christian Church in Phoenix in 1978.

Lawrence helped create Christ’s Church of the Valley in Phoenix where he served two years as youth pastor before the Arizona Evangelistic Association contacted him to start a new church in Fountain Hills.

“It was nice to celebrate Don this year because the 40th anniversary was so jam-packed. This year, we were able to concentrate on him and his contributions,” Pastor Keith Pavia said. “God had it perfectly set up and I couldn’t have asked for a better celebration.”

Lawrence is currently retired and lives in Fountain Hills with his family.
